Through the weeks leading towards Thanksgiving Nightsociety.org will be spearheading a canned food drive in efforts to provide food to the less fortunate and the homeless. Donations can be made at any Nightsociety.org listed location or sponsored event. Drop off locations and events can be found on the nightsociety.org website beginning November 1st. All types of canned food donations will be greatly appreciated and no quantity will be seen as too small or too big. The donations will be gathered and delivered to various homeless shelters and food banks in the Saint Louis Metropolitan area.
Along with canned goods we will also accept blankets and clothing to provide those in need the necessities required to make it through the predicted cold season.If you need a reason to get involved this holiday season here is some sample data compiled by the Covenant House of Missouri.28% of homeless youth will spend at least some time in places such as cars, abandoned buildings, on the streets or other public places. (1) Society pays an enormous price for failing to help high-risk youth. According to Vanderbilt Professor Mark Cohen, that cost is $1.7 – $2.3 million PER CHILD. In preparation we are calling on all volunteers and business.
